Nathan
Nathan Lofi was born 12/2 weighing 9 lbs 8 oz, 20 1/2 inches long. It was quite a wild ride for us. We got to the hospital around 5 am, after having contractions since 1 the afternoon before. I wanted to wait as long as I could for the epidural, since that slows down the labor and James was so long I wanted to have this one go faster. The nurses advised against it, but I wanted to hang on as long as I could. The nurse said the Dr would come in and break my water and I said I would do the epidural after that. The Dr. came in around 9. I was at a 7, when he broke the water, I went to a 9 and the baby dropped and the cord wrapped around his neck. The Dr. worked and worked to get the cord away from his neck but had no luck so he jumped on my bed with his hand keeping the cord from strangling my baby and they wheeled me to the OR for an emergency c section. Here I am, no epidural and laying flat on my back. I was in such pain. They put me on the operating table and they started to give me a general, when he was able to get the cord away from the neck. They say this is a miracle. This was the first time he was able to feel a cord around a babies neck, and even more rare for the cord to be able to be removed. So, luckily, I did not have to have a c-section. They tried to deliver me right then, but after the cord was removed, the baby moved back and I went back down to a 7. Weird. So, I ended up delivering him at 1:30 that afternoon. Labor stinks. They say that after the first baby, labor is about half the time. Not in my case, it was a bit longer. What's the deal!

Wow, Melanie! I'm so happy for you that you didn't have to have an emergency C. They are NO fun!!! Welcome, Baby Nathan; I'm so glad you got here safely, even if you took longer than was comfortable to get here. =)
Congratulations! He is so cute! I can tell James is glad he's here too.
So glad to hear more. Congratulations. He's a cutie. It looks like he has such light hair. And I'm glad you didn't have to have a c-section, even if the labor was longer.
Yeah for pictures of your kids! They are totally cute! Congratulations!
Whoa! That's a story I've never heard from anyone before. I'm glad you and baby are doing great! He is cute. Congratulations! What a super cute family you have.
By the way, this Carla, Brent's sister. I like to blog stalk. Sheila has you listed on her blog and I wanted to read up on ya. I'm there too.
Oh my gosh! I never read or heard that story. What an ordeal! I'm glad you and Nathan are great!
